We're still enjoying our surroundings, whenever we have a quiet moment to appreciate them:
Moving-in tasks are slowly tapering off. Providing the fans with decorative dingle-dangles (that I can reach) was one of the final adjustments
Apart from the excursions to Bintawa and Lundu in recent days, we used our hire car to make our way out to the Summer mall, right on the outskirts of town (for a final push on apartment shopping), and to the Library (for a morning walk and breakfast). Driving around Kuching is a tiring business these days, though. Traffic flow -- everyone says this -- has generally worsened, because there are just so many more cars on the roads. And things are currently even more problematic because of the ubiquitous roadworks involved in the construction of the Autonomous Rapid Transit system. I'm not sure what I think about this project. Clearly, better public transport is a great goal. But I've yet to speak to anyone who has much confidence in the scheme, and the number of trees that have been cut down to accommodate it is absolutely heart-breaking.
Otherwise, our cafe peregrinations have continued:
Borneo Coffee, with its lovely garden, is now our nearest cafe. They also do a big, refreshing iced tea
To close, just a couple of pics from around town:
