We've been watching the preparations for this since we arrived in Nagasaki just over a week ago. And this evening, on the first day of the Year of the Rabbit, we had the big switch-on.

The weather was terrible. Unremittingly rainy. But it was worth pulling on our shlup-shlup overtrousers, and wrestling with our brollies, because these are truly the most amazing lanterns we've ever seen, and they made a great close to our Nagasaki trip.
