A week today, assuming nothing horrible happens in the meantime, we'll be heading off again for a few months.

Preparations are under way. It hasn't been too arduous as yet. Cleaning duties are scheduled for next week. And there hasn't been that much to acquire. Our cold-weather kit had a trial run in Japan. We were pretty happy with it, and any supplements we thought would improve it we bought while we were there.

So, mostly, the list we're working our way through consists of "places we really want to eat at before we go away". There's lots of good food to look forward to en route. And we're only going for three months (well, we hope we are, but we thought that in 2020, and look what happened...). Any which way, Kuching's food is something we'll miss.

Here are just some of the week's highlights:

porridge
Porridge from Min Hong Kee. Always a treat

wantonmee
Wanton mee from Mee Sin. Very nice, but we've still not found anyone who beats that wanton mee we used to get in KL...

yangling
Dinner with friends at the Pending Seafood Centre. From the Yang Ling stall, we enjoyed excellent squid, prawns, veggies, and "boxing chicken"

sinpohpoh
Simple and really delicious: meat ball mee from Sin Poh Poh

And the rest of the week's gallery:
