A few bits of news before we hit the really important stories:

hole
Newark's massive sinkhole...

Umbrellas in the market square. Designed "to raise awareness of neurological diversity"

Trains are a bit unpredictable around Newark at the moment, what with strikes and mid-week engineering work. But we did catch this beaut freight train this morning

All very interesting, but eclipsed for us by two themes:

One is the arrival of SUMMER! Which is now going gangbusters, with blossom coating the trees, flower buds racketing out of captivity, and bird families flourishing:

It's all stunningly beautiful. But it is starting to get a bit pollen-heavy, according to my throat, anyway, that trusty bellwether of environmental conditions. I didn't use to get hay fever. Maybe I do now. Or at least maybe I do when I'm away from the sea. Luckily, it's nothing a little anti-histamine can't fix.

Our other little story is cider comparison. Having realized I'd not had cider for absolutely ages, we took advantage of Morrison's "three for two" offer, and tried some products from different parts of the country:

somerset
Somerset cider

notts
Nottinghamshire cider. Possibly my favourite, but maybe I'm biased

hereford
Herefordshire cider

Pleasant days...
