Time for another celebration! It has been minutes, after all, since the last one...
This time we have the Intercultural Mooncake Festival, and Carpenter Street is awash with eating and buying opportunities
But all the eating doesn't push out the cultural elements. This excellent drumming team is from one of the local schools
And these guys do a great rendition of the old Chinese ballads
But every day is a food celebration in Kuching. I'm sure you've noticed... A Facebook friend asked me the other day: "Why do most of your posts include food?" And the answer has to be: "Because it's such a big part of life here, and it's really, really good..."
So here are some recent "everyday food" moments:
Claypot seafood porridge from Qiao Zhong kopitiam
Excellent dim sum at Boulevard
Nice setting. Go early though, as it gets busy
Radish cake, chee cheong fun, and glutionous rice. All good. As were the dumplings and yam puffs...
Indah's low-carb version of nasi lemak
We hadn't been to this fusion ramen place on Jalan Padungan for absolutely
ages -- not since before the pandemic, in fact. There's a bit more seating now, but you can still cluster round the bar, as of old
It has changed its name to Makino Kochi, but the Ayam Brand cutlery holders are still going strong...
Absolutely delicious... A fabulous combination of flavours
And this is the name...
