The Chinese New Year celebrations are still going great guns:
The Cat and friends look even better in the dark
And the Thai restaurant's new elephant definitely looks CNY-appropriate
Today is
Renri, or Human Day, the seventh day of the first month in the Chinese calendar. It recalls the seventh act of creation by the goddess Nuwa (when humans appeared on the scene, after a series of other animals had been brought out of nothing over the previous six days), and it's often known as Everybody's Birthday.
It was cataclysmically rainy... I think that might be inauspicious...
The uninspiring view from the balcony this morning. We decided to make it mall day, and went to Vivacity...
I don't think burnt cheesecake (from Secret Recipe at Vivacity) is classic Renri fare, but it was very good
In fact, the whole week has been chacterized by the wet stuff:
We have several times had to dive into cafes to escape the deluge. This is Atmosfera
Looking out at the rain from Rumah Kopi
A rain-induced change of plan saw us substituting chicken mushroom noodles (from the Wan Loke Cafe) for our original scheme (good, though)
A classic walking scene these days
But the kitty lights are still looking good
Needless to say, the river is often high at the moment...
...the skies are often looming...
...and the vegetation grows apace
Of course, this week also brought Valentine's Day:
Wonderboom covering all the bases for CNY and St Val
They now do a rice-bowl option that uses cauliflower rice. Very tasty
Our
visa campaign has been on hold this week, to give our poor sponsor a bit of a break, but I guess we'll have to stir the pot again next week. Sigh...
