In a spot all on its own -- separate from the normal food diary -- is this week's steamboat experience. It was at Shu Daxia, at The Podium, and we went with three friends.

You can choose two or three soups. We went for mushroom and Szechwan

ingredients
Then you choose your ingredients. We opted for beef, lamb, prawns, prawn balls, tofu rolls, seaweed, and a selection of vegetables

Not the cheapest meal in the world. But the quality of the ingredients was excellent, and we were well full till late the next morning. Plus it was a lot of fun!

This was our first time actually at The Podium (as opposed to ordering kacangma from there via Grab). The complex houses a number of shops and eateries:

Kuching has been a bit of a steamboat itself this week. Walks need to happen early in the morning or after the sun has retreated in the evening (and even then things can be pretty humid).

I have no idea how you survive this heat in a fur coat, but he seems pretty relaxed...

To close: A bit more food, glorious food:

We lamented the demise of Jumbo, one of our go-to "fast food" places. But in its place is Super Full, which is now definitely on our rota

Morgan Pork does a nice pork soup, and it's good value (lots of pork slices, a big pork ball, and an egg for MYR 11)
