It's mostly spring. There are spring flowers, blossoms, buds, excited songbirds, and rooks attempting acts of twig collection that are clearly based more on ambition than physics.
Then, just when you're getting into the way of things being warmer, the weather will slam you with a cold snap, or a deluge, or a gale (or -- occasionally -- all three).

We've had several days recently when it has been warm enough to eat lunch outside. One of our picnic spots was Noble's Park, another civic endowment that we owe to philanthropist Henry Bloom Noble (1816-1903)
But this was one of the days when it POURED, and we got very, very wet... Here we are at Java Express, where the waitress was so smiley and sympathetic you kind of felt instantly better. Well, slightly better, anyway... She didn't even shout at us for making puddles on the floor...
In the space of a few hours, we had sun, wind, rain -- and snow. The latter, most inopportunely, just as we were about to purchase a small coffee table from one of the local charity shops. By the time we'd gone round the corner to buy protective plastic bags, the sun was out again. Some clouds have a warped sense of humour...
