First, Cooill y Ree, which is just starting to edge into autumn:

Second, the Tynwald National Park and Arboretum, which extends further than we'd previously realized. Last time we were there, it was jolly blustery, and we didn't venture far up the hill. Today, the rain loomed, but didn't actually grab us until we were waiting for the bus (at one of the stops that has no shelter -- of course).

A handy covered spot, for future reference

The park is also now the site of a rather striking sculpture by Manx artist Bryan Kneale (1930-2025). He died, aged 95, just a month before the installation. The work "creates a portal crossing time and place, a space for contemplation and passage. Natural beauty and human creativity are brought together, with each visitor completing the scene from their own unique viewpoint and imagination."

I liked it. It's very simple, very unassuming. And it's a reminder, I suppose, that we always frame our own world.
