We've been to Telaga Air (just up the coast from Kuching) on many an occasion, but we've never done a boat trip from there. And that's what we did today.
It was one of those stand-out days: Great company (seven friends, plus a bright yellow rooster who had LOTS to say...); fresh air and fine views; good weather (a tiny shower, but it passed quickly); and good food.
Here is how it went:
First up, breakfast! We haven't made it out of Kuching at this point... And it's good to have this photo because it's not that often that all seven of us get together (let alone with rooster accompaniment)
Approaching an island that is entirely encircled by TERNS! Not purple, admittedly. Still, this is very exciting!
Now, you've got to look hard, because this was not the right camera for this sort of picture, but just where the mud meets the trees, and just left of the middle, there's a baby croc...
You can rent these for overnight fishing. Another expedition maybe? After all, you don't have to actually fish...
We've seen horseshoe crabs in aquariums, but never this close. At first I thought they were sitting in dishes, and then I realized that the "dish" is part of the crab... And actually they're not crabs anyway...
There are loads of stalls near the waterfront offering all kinds of yummy stuff. This was sweet-and-sour fish, with tasty veggies
And, on the way home: Fabulously creamy coconut shakes from -- draws breath -- Serapi Virgin Coconut Milk Shake and Lemang House (the one on the main road as you're coming back to Kuching). Note to self: Try the lemang as well next time...
A really, really cool excursion. Hope it won't be long before the Stunning Seven (plus rooster) ride again.
